Programs
· Façade Easement Program
The Façade Easement Program is a tool for Historic Madison, Inc., ensuring that
Madison’s historic resources are protected and preserved and will continue to be
treasured and enjoyed. In donating the façade of a building to HMI, the property
owner is assured the exterior will be protected from changes and keep with its
historic architectural character. The property owner will in return enjoy a tax
credit.
· Dorothy Inglis Reindollar Preservation Award
Established in 2000, this annual award was created to recognize individuals,
residential owners and/or business owners for outstanding achievements in
preservation and restoration efforts in Madison and Jefferson County. The award
is presented annually during the organization’s spring dinner. The award is
determined through a nomination process.
· Technical Assistance Program
Historic Madison, Inc. offers a variety of technical services to the property
owners in Madison historic district including building design, preservation
maintenance and planning, and tax credit certification.
· Educational Programs
Historic Madison, Inc. is working to continue to integrate Madison’s history and
specifically its architecture into the classroom. Heritage Day and Black History
Month celebrations are annual events held to highlight special areas of
Madison’s history.
TOURS
· Special Tours
Historic Madison, Inc. owns and operates 16 historic properties in historic
Madison. Four properties are opened as museums. Other properties may be
available for special tours. Arrangements must be made in advance and can be
made by calling the HMI administrative offices.
· Motor Coach-Tours
All Historic Madison, Inc. museum properties can accommodate motor coach
tours.

SERVICES
· Resource Library Services
Historic Madison, Inc. has an extensive collection of architectural and historic
preservation resources available in the HMI administrative offices.
· Architectural Salvage/Materials
Historic Madison, Inc. has a limited inventory of architectural salvage and
materials that may be purchased for renovation/restoration projects located in
the Madison Historic District.
