Historic Madison, Inc. Volunteers

  • HMI Volunteers
  • The success of the organization is a direct result of dedicated officers, directors, members and volunteers working together to create a viable force committed to improving the special quality of life enjoyed by Madisonians and shared with the many visitors to our historic community.

  • HMI Docent Associates

  • The Historic Madison Inc. Docent Associates is a group of volunteers consisting of local men and women organized for the purpose of providing guide service at the Jeremiah Sullivan House, Dr. William Hutchings’ Office and Hospital, the Francis Costigan House, the Schroeder Saddletree Factory Museum and at special events such as the Nights Before Christmas Candlelight Tour and Heritage Days. The Docent Associates contribute thousands of hours annually to the work of Historic Madison, Inc.

  • Weavers’ Guild

  • A guild of traditional craftspeople involved in preserving the art of early American crafts. The Weavers’ Guild produces woven articles, hand dipped candles and soap. The woven items are produced on a loom in the Sullivan House and are available for purchase at the Sullivan House. The candles are used during the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes. The Weavers’ Guild is very instrumental in the annual Heritage Days where students participate on site to learn about early American ways of life in historic setting.

  • Garden Guild

  • The Garden Guild contributes many hours annually to plant and maintain the appearance of the Talbott-Hyatt Garden. The garden contains many early plantings, a reconstructed well, and carriage house. The Garden is open from dawn to dusk year round.
